Summary

Developer Insights & Update 2.8 Preview

Crytek has shared survey results from the Devil’s Trail event, outlining significant mechanical changes coming in Update 2.8. Key focuses include rebalancing the speed of Battle Pass progression and refining the Scouting Map mechanics introduced in 2.7.

Gameplay & Map Changes

The experimental Scout Towers are being removed entirely in Update 2.8. In their place, Scouting Maps will now appear in three fixed locations, including spots closer to Boss Target lairs. Additionally, these maps will no longer reveal Wild Target territories to maintain the challenge of tracking them. Hidden Extractions are also confirmed to return in the next update.

Progression & Events

To address players finishing the Battle Pass too quickly, Weekly Challenges are being adjusted to take longer while still remaining the primary path to completion. The Inferno Time of Day is also transitioning into a recurring weekend event rather than a random rotation element, featuring specific Supply Points and the Hellborn.
